Claudia Fernandez was born in Cochabamba, Bolivia in 1967.
Director and Producer of auteur films and festivals, she has directed more than a hundred audiovisual works in various cinematographic genres. Her strongest areas are video art and documentaries, marking her own and recognizable style in all her work. She has produced and directed documentaries, television products, short films and feature films in the Dominican Republic, Costa Rica, Brazil, Argentina and Bolivia.
She has been a Jury member of National and International Film Festivals, curator of several Festivals and Audiovisual Consultant for International Organizations. She has been a Regional Producer for Ibero-America for the International Film Festival “The 48 Hour Film Project”, coordinating the IberoÁ Festival with the 20 host cities of the 48HFP in Ibero-America for 10 years until 2023. She was Director and founder of the Ibero-American streaming film platform, Cinexpress, in which the 48HFP Film Festivals and allied Festivals were developed.
Her most notable works are: “Legend Within”, a feature film co-produced by 5 continents; “En lo cotidiano me Sumerjo”, winner of the award for best Videodance in Mercosur; “The VII Indigenous March for the land and territory” in 2010; “Quien Muere no volví más, la historia triste del Río Madera” in 2011, produced in Brazilian and Bolivian territory on the Madera River Hydroelectric Complex. “TIPNIS, Territory and Dignity” produced in August 2011 at the meeting of Corregidores of TIPNIS in which the VIII Indigenous March was decided. She is currently working on the presentation of a video art exhibition made with open source images and artificial intelligence.
